The USS Pampanito, built in 1943 was a reflection of the instrumental role that the US Naval Fleet submarines had in the in the Allied Victory in the Pacific during WW2. The USS Pampanito made six patrols in the Pacific during World War II during which she sank six Imperial Japanese ships and damaged four others. She was built at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in New Hampshire, launched on July 12, 1943 and served six patrols before being decommissioned in 1945, earning six battle stars for her WW2 service
